National Water Infrastructure began in 1994 as a small, family-owned sewer utility company called Ascension Wastewater Treatment. Since then, we have grown into one of the largest privately owned sewer utility company in Louisiana, serving more than 16,000 customers.
NWI owns and operates approximately 230 lift stations and sewer treatment systems plants in developments throughout Ascension, Livingston, and East Baton Rouge Parishes.
All NWI systems have been upgraded to maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations as we are regulated by the Louisiana Public Service Commission, LDEQ and DHH. As we move forward, we continue to upgrade plants that discharge into waterways, deemed impaired by DEQ, to remain in substantial compliance.
In 2013, we were named the Private System of the Year for Outstanding Operations and Maintenance by the Louisiana Rural Water Association (LRWA) for our "dedication to helping maintain a cleaner environment.”
Our long-term goal and vision is to provide high-quality sewer treatment services and return the healthiest water possible back into the environment.
National Water Infrastructure Partners with Ascension Sewer
In 2020, we were given the opportunity to partner with Ascension Sewer on a plan to bring a clean, modern, and cost-effective sewer system to Ascension Parish.
On Feb. 11, the Parish Council unanimously approved a resolution that will appear on the ballot on April 24, 2021 seeking voter approval for transferring the parish’s sewer assets to NWI. If approved by voters, we will build and operate the new consolidated system Ascension Parish needs.
